Our Story

Akehurst Family History Society is dedicated to genealogical research into the Akehurst Surname and its variants.

Originating from a single message that crossed continents, there were only five newly formed members with electronic contact: Colin Ackehurst and David Evans in

Australia, Shirley Akehurst and David Brown in the UK, and David Murdock in the US. This was the start of it all.  On 9 March 1995, the first Akehurst-er Newsletter was put together, giving details of members around the world.

 

The society has grown from just four passionate researchers to a vibrant community of 220 members. Harnessing the power of technology, we continue to uncover connections and stories and celebrate our shared heritage.

The Akehurst Family History Society Chairman is a Genealogy Researcher with over15 years of experience in archival research. He organises the Akehurst DNA project and the Akehurst One Name Study


Morwenna Akehurst

The keeper of the Family Trees, Morwenna maintains the Akehurst Database and serves as a Tech Specialist, assisting in the modernization of our genealogical research techniques.

Angela Akehurst

The website serves as a platform for the webmaster to collect and archive birth, death, and marriage records. Additionally, the Community Outreach Coordinator is dedicated to fostering connections among family members.

Alan Pett

Our Lead Historian is passionate about sharing the Akehurst family legacy and oversees the Akehurst War Dead Research initiative, collecting details and archiving information for the group.
